Hoylake fotos.

Nothing much happened today and I didn't have many thoughts. So here are a few fotos of Hoylake. There would have been more but, luckily for some, my old SLR camera appears to have malfunctioned. It's been that sort of a week.

A couple of pubs . . .

Eclectic seaside architecture . . . .

The old town hall and, later, Midland/BSBC bank.

The King's Gap: It's from here that, in 1690, William III set sail with a 10,000-strong army to Ireland, en route to the Battle of the Boyne.

And this is a small galleon cleverly crafted from old rope, outside the splendid new lifeboat station.

This, at the bottom of King's Gap, is the view to the island of Hilbre, which can be reached on foot at low tide. Not wise to try it at high tide. Hilbre may have been the home of St. Hildeburgh, to whom is dedicated a church in the King's Gap. The only one in Britain.

Finally . . .  A special building. It's a police station across the road from my mother's flat. It has all the sort of thing you'd associate with such a place, except policemen. You have to ring a number on a board for one of these. Too bad if your problem occurs somewhere where you can't see the sign from.
