Spanish life is not always likeable but it is compellingly loveable.
- Christopher Howse: A Pilgrim in Spain.
If you've arrived here because of an interest in Galicia or Pontevedra, see my web page here. Garish but informative.
England
- I've moved from dry but cold Leeds back to wet but less-cold south Manchester. At a café in Headingley yesterday morning, I found myself sitting next to a table of 6 young Spaniards, 4 female and 2 male. I assumed they were all students at one or other of Leeds' universities. But, no. They said they were in the UK to work. Which was a tad depressing.
Spain
- The estimable Guy Hedgecoe reviews Spain's People of the Year here.
- Some thought provoking comments on Spain's current political scene here, which is not as un-right-wing as some have liked to believe.
- What the long-living Spaniards eat around Yuletide, allegedly.
- Changes to the rental laws, important for some to know.
- A Galician town goes rather mad. In black and white.
The UK and Brexit
- We didn't have to do Brexit in this damn silly way, says this observer. But, even now – he says - it's not too late to stop being silly. Or rather, 'he said', as this was written a decade ago, back in early November.
- A nice, more-recent comment: Theresa May was unequivocal. She would not, repeat not, permit a second referendum. No way. No chance. Forget it. Not happening. Not a prayer. Not on her watch. Which I suppose leaves only one question. What date will the second referendum be held?
