The Spanish Economy
- Confirmation that the rich have got richer. While the poor . . . Well, you know what happened to them.
- Malaga is going to ban e-scooters - but not ordinary bikes? - on its pavements. Yesterday, I noticed that - thanks to the reduction of all roads in the city to one-way - the pavements of Pontevedra are not only wide enough to allow a bike lane but are sometimes coloured as if there already was one. As here:-
I wonder if this signifies anything at all.
- The South East of Spain is being hit with the worst cold wave (gota de frio) for more than 100 years. I didn't know until last night that this is an annual September event, though not usually so fearsome.
- Possibly even worse bad news is that Spain has the highest rate of teenage gamblers. Laissez-faire gone mad?
- This is a warning for at least some gullible folk.

- A Galician friend tells me we've now reached the ridiculous point where it's cheaper to fly to destinations in Spain from nearby Oporto than from any of Galicia's 3 airports. The time for rationalisation was decades ago.

- I read - but find it impossible to believe - that we must no longer laugh at MAMILs - Middle Aged Men in Lycra - but should envy them their life style. Well, I for one am still guffawing at them. As they are at me in my normal dress and cycle clips, no doubt.
