Night’s candles are burnt out, and jocund day stands tiptoe on the misty mountain tops.
Spanish life is not always likeable but it is compellingly loveable.
Living La Vida Loca in Galicia/Spain
Friends of mine here are experiencing side effects with the Pfizer jab and it’s reported that, down in Andalucia, the second Pfizer jab has been suspended, after 46 nursing home residents died after the first one. I wonder how that’s going down in France and Germany, assuming it’s making the media there.
Maybe this is connected to that . . . The Voz de Galicia reports today that the administration of the 2nd (Pfizer?) dose has fallen by 50%. And that there’s ‘chaos’ in the vaccination of teachers here in Galicia.
Anyway . . . If, like me, you’re resident here and patiently waiting for your first jab, do make sure you’re registered at your local town hall - on the padrón - or you’ll never get the invitation.
There’ll be some relaxation of our restrictions at midnight on Friday night. No idea why not before then. So, I’ll finally be able to go to Pontevedra. And lunch there on Saturday with up to 3 friends.
Here’s Lenox Napier on The Rapper Who Caused a Riot. Or Two.
And here’s María with a bit more info on what’s now possible in this neck of the woods - Tsunami Days 21 and 22.
And this is the latest fashion in minifundio border markers that I stumbled on yesterday - a painted stone:-
The USA
The US Supreme Court has ruled that Donald Trump must hand over 8 years of tax returns to New York prosecutors investigating potential tax, insurance and bank fraud by him and his businesses. This doesn't mean that his tax records will be made public immediately, as they've been sought for a grand jury inquiry, which is held in secret. Details will emerge if charges lead to open court prosecution. That couldn't happen to a nicer guy. You can easily predict what his responses were. They never change.
Religious Nutters/Crooks Corner
Televangelist Frank Amedia once claimed his prayers had helped a baby grow 1.5 kidneys and that voting for Democrats would mean we'd all be having sex with cows. Now he's blaming Trump for not being sufficiently deferential to God. Aha, adds the Friendly Atheist, the real problem with Trump’s Twitter account was that it didn’t include enough Bible verses or glory to God. And that's why he isn't President right now. Well, if you believe 7 billion people have descended from A and E in only 6,000 years, what's your credence limit?
Finally . . .
I've one an awful lot of flying in my lifetime but this has always been my view too: I hate flying - from the turbulence to the bossy staff in bad uniforms. The full Times article here.

I'm sure that prepareforchange.net is right up there with The Lancet - where else would you find quality Covid content like : https://prepareforchange.net/2021/02/22/zionists-behind-all-these-anti-covid-vaccines/ ?
A slightly different analysis of the referenced case can be found here:
https://www.europasur.es/los_barrios/coronavirus-muertos-Covid-19-residencia-Nuestra-Senora-Rosario_0_1541246123.html
Do your prefer the report referred to in the text
https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/cadiz/sevi-brote-residencia-barrios-provoca-46-muertes-coronavirus-202102040941_noticia.htmlç
Or is this out as being not up to the Lancet standard either, being a newspaper?
The newspaper articles do not appear to contain anti-vaccine propaganda. I haven't checked, but I'd bet those organs aren't into blaming Zionists for humanity's woes either.
I have no idea what you're talking about. Feel free to educate me.
Or to stop reading a blog that seems to annoy you regularly. I mean, why bother?
It's as if I inflicted the Daily Mail on myself every day just so I could comment to no effect.

While perusing the content of the above link one might conclude that the author of the piece is not entirely focused on the benefits of medical science.
Colin, "Prepare for change" are a bunch of wackos - See here

You need to be more careful of your sources, or you will be taken for a wacko yourself.

Buckinghamshire.
29,748 total cases to 22 Feb
960 Coronavirus-related deaths registered to 5 Feb
By my reckoning, only one in thirty (3%) people infected by Covid in Bucks, allegedly died from the virus. Every death within 28 days of testing positive for Covid is included, including deaths that would in other circumstances, have been attributed to other morbidities. Thus, the real figure is hidden from us, in order to engender fear in the population, for the purposes of making us grateful to Boris for saving us. If I had caught Covid, my Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency damaged lungs would have seen me dead in short order, but what would have been written as the cause of death on my certificate? Bah, humbug!
@Anonymous. Point taken but it was the source of one particular story that hadn't appeared elsewhere in English and, true, I didn't look at any the site's other stories or determine its credo. That said, TBH, I'm too old to be concerned about being taken for a whacko. Or anything else, for that matter. :-)
Tho' I guess I'd be a bit concerned about being taken for a pedophile. Or a MAGA supporter . . .
* hadn't appeared elsewhere in English in my RSS feed.
@Perry
1. Thanks for those links.
2. I suspect you'd like this chap. I can't quite make up my mind whether he's a genius or nuts. Possibly both. He certainly has an individualistic writing style.

I wasn't objecting to the reporting of deaths in residencias, but to the site's insinuation that the victims died of vaccine poisoning. That detail was not in the stories reported in the conventional press.
Yes, I do realise that. And agree.

Jag kan förstå svenska, men jag kan inte tala det. I lived & worked at Bofors AB in Sweden for 13 months 1965/66. I was reasonably fluent when I returned to the UK, but 6 months later, I had forgotten most of it. A friend from many years ago spoke only Hebrew when he arrived in England age 11. When we became friends at 16, he only spoke English & regretted he was no longer bi-lingual.
Using the data from "23 & me" I was able to show one unbroken matriarchal descent to my sons, from a Danish woman who had lived in NE England on the border between the Danelaw & Northumbria, circa 900 AD. As Nancy only had sons, she is the last of that particular line. However, as with all of us, there are other strands in her past. She owes her still youthful looks to one of her Victorian ancestors who was a sea captain. He married a Burmese woman & Nancy inherited her beauty. Our two elder sons have her dark eyes & hair, whilst our youngest is a blue eyed, light haired colossus.
Colin,
Thanks, I realise I've read John Ward's writings before.
This Covid thing has nothing on the Spanish flu, also known as the 1918 influenza pandemic. It was an unusually deadly influenza pandemic caused by the H1N1 influenza A virus. Lasting from February 1918 to April 1920, it infected 500 million people or about a third of the world's population at the time – in four successive waves. The death toll is typically estimated to have been somewhere between 20 million and 50 million, although estimates range from a conservative 17 million to a possible high of 100 million, making it one of the deadliest pandemics in human history.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4082668/
As a comparison, as at 23rd February 2021, more than 111 million cases have been confirmed from a world population of 7.8 billion (as of March 2020), with more than 2.47 million deaths attributed to COVID-19, statistics which as any sensible person is aware, have been exaggerated for political purposes.
Colin,
If you get the opportunity, do watch Norseman. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norsemen_(TV_series)
The same production values as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilyhammer
Hey those in Galicia will be forced to have a vaccine, unless it can be stop with the court action.

Covid restrictions change after you had written this. Maybe again read La Loz for the latest and up dated bounderies. It would appear you can travel to the same areas (with equal levels) to another. That means Vigo can get to A Courna, even though you have to travel vi areas not with the same number. Just do not stop I suppose. The power is making "some" crazy.

The same newspaper had a series of photos on the different types of boundary markers Did you see that?
Thanks.
Yes, I've seen that report re compulsory jabs
I wasn't aware that we in Pontevedra can visit A Coruña and Ferrol but not other cities.
I'll take a look at the marker fotos. Thanks for that ref.
Am not sure about inter-city travel . . .
El área sanitaria es lo que condiciona los movimientos en esta nueva fase de la desescalada.
