Escudos . . .

This is a pre-loaded post, for while I'm en route to the UK.

These are some of the 200 escudos - shields or family crests - which adorn buildings in Pontevedra's old quarter. I hope one day to know more about them, and even to write a little paper on the subject.

Meanwhile, enjoy. Though I fear one of them - the first - is Francoist and shouldn't still be there:-

The first is ecclesiastical. The ropes on either side are always used on these shields. I believe it's an archbishop's shield, though I don't know which one.
